As of December 2025, the commercial lending portfolio stood at ₹67.5 lakh crore, reflecting 16% year‑on‑year growth and a 17% CAGR since 2020. Growth was led by LAP and secured business loans in portfolio. There has also been increasing emphasis on micro‑enterprise and individual borrower segments with both unsecured and secured loan products. Asset quality strengthened, with delinquencies declining to a five‑year low of 1.87%, supported by a higher share of low‑risk borrowers.
Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi together accounted for nearly half of the portfolio, with growth patterns varying by sector and borrower segment across states. Manufacturing remained the largest sector at 38%, driven by textiles, food processing, and engineering.
Analysis of DCMSME‑identified SME clusters highlights strong district‑level growth opportunities and evolving lending trends. About 7.7 crore Udyam‑registered enterprises are active on Ministry of MSME platform. ~ 3.6 crore businesses are credit active as at December 2025 either in enterprises or in self-employed capacity. There is a substantial headroom for a deeper credit engagement across enterprise sizes in commercial lending.
